Accounting Consultant/Senior Accounting Consultant - Outsource Accounting Services
Location: Corning/Elmira, NY
This is a unique opportunity to act as a full-time Consultant and apply your accounting experience to a variety of different companies and organizations and also help us grow our Outsource Accounting Services practice in the Elmira/Corning area.

Our Outsource Accounting Services Group is made up of dedicated personnel whereby their only assignment is outsourcing. Our Outsource Accounting Services are designed to ensure clients have the information that they require to run a successful business. When providing onsite service to our clients, most needs can be broken down into two distinct areas: 1) those services that are more strategic and 'big picture' in nature, and 2) those that are more recurring accounting, bookkeeping, and process-driven services.
Responsibilities:
Depending on various client engagements you may be responsible for the following:
- Managing client's full financial statement reporting process including cash flow and disclosures.
- Assisting accounting departments at various clients.
- Processing A/P, A/R, payroll and prepare bank reconciliations as needed.
- Analyzing general ledger process, identify and clean up any account errors.
- Managing short-term/long-term cash flow needs.
- Communicating reporting requirements with clients and banks.
- Assessing client's accounting needs and creating proposals if necessary.
- Setting up the accounting ledgers or systems upgrades as needed.
- Reviewing outstanding receivables and analyze allowance for doubtful accounts.
- Coordinating any accounting efforts with external auditors, tax preparers and regular communications with owners and financial institutions.
- Reviewing of operational, financial, and technology processes to provide management with an individual assessment of business risk, internal control, and the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the process.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting along with a minimum of 2 years experience in a public accounting firm or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years working in industry as an experienced Accountant who has responsibility for A/P, A/R, GL, bank reconciliation and month close. CPA license is highly recommended. CMA is a plus. QuickBooks system experience is also highly preferred. Strong communication and relationship building skills are necessary. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines, be proactive and have solid multi-tasking skills.

Senior Tax Accountant
We are seeking to hire a Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing practice. Are you ready for a new challenge? Summary: A senior is responsible for the timely completion of tax compliance and consulting engagements including preparation and/or review of tax returns, research memos, estimates, extensions and notices.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing difficult individual and business returns.
- Interviewing clients to accumulate tax return data for individual returns.
- Understanding and completing the steps in conducting research projects; preparing written conclusions, subject to Manager or Principal review.
- Assisting audit and accounting staff with non-complex tax questions.
- Understanding tax accruals.
- Responding to routine IRS or state tax notices.
- Supervising work flow of Tax Accountants/Interns on less complex returns.
- Identifying problems and opportunities for research or work other than compliance
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and a CPA license is required along with a minimum of two to five years tax experience in public accounting. Qualified candidates will have experience with all different entity types. Transactional analyses necessary, in addition to compliance work experience. One must have demonstrated research capabilities, and be able to have total responsibility for all tax needs for a client or client group. Candidates must be proactive in tax planning ideas/processes. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines and have solid multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities:
- Managing client's full financial statement reporting process including cash flow and disclosures.
- Assisting with supervising the accounting department at various clients or internal accounting staff. Depending on engagement may assist with setting up, processing or managing A/P, A/R, payroll, prepare bank reconciliations, etc.
- Analyzing general ledger process, identify and clean up any account errors.
- Managing short-term/long-term cash flow needs.
- Communicating reporting requirements with clients and banks.
- Assessing client's accounting needs and creating proposals if necessary.
- Setting up the accounting ledgers or systems for emerging businesses.
- Reviewing outstanding receivables and analyze allowance for doubtful accounts.
- Updating and maintaining clients' annual operating plan/budgets.
- Coordinating all accounting efforts with external auditors, tax preparers, supervision of staff, and regular communications with owners and financial institutions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting along with a minimum of four years in a public accounting firm along with four plus years working in industry, or a minimum of eight years industry experience (four of those years working in a accounting management role) is required. Industry accounting experience in service, manufacturing, or distribution is preferred. CPA license is highly recommended along with some tax exposure would be helpful. Experience with QuickBooks and other accountings systems are required. Strong communication and relationship building skills are necessary. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines, be proactive and have solid multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities:
- Serving as senior/reviewer on audit engagements.
- Evaluating all technical steps in order to complete and review work papers with Manager or Partner.
- Preparing financial statements, notes, schedules, and management letters as needed.
- Reporting test conclusions that impact the audit plan, i.e., where insufficient assurance is obtained to meet the audit strategy.
- Informing the Engagement Manager/Partner regarding any audit and accounting difficulties that you may experience with an assignment/task that could affect our scheduled deadline.
- Reviewing and evaluating the internal controls and preparing the audit program and time budget.
- Conducting a review of the work papers prior to managerial review, to ensure that the accountants properly carried out the procedures assigned to them, that the programs and conclusions are properly completed and that the documentation of the audit or review work conforms to Firm standards.
- Supporting the Manager/Partner through maintaining a good working relationship with client personnel and other team members and demonstrating an awareness of the client's business.
- Providing appropriate on-the-job training to Accountants.
Conducting timely performance appraisals for the accountants assigned to work with you.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting along with a minimum of 3 years public accounting experience working in an audit capacity in a firm is required. MBA/MS is a plus. CPA license is a plus or candidate must be actively preparing to pass the CPA examination. Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills, self-confidence, self-motivated and be capable working productively in a friendly, casual but professional environment. Must be conscientious, detailed-oriented and have excellent organizational skills.
